Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic condition where the body either cannot produce enough insulin (Type 1) or cannot effectively use the insulin it produces (Type 2), leading to elevated blood sugar levels.  Regenerative health solutions offer potential to regenerate insulin-producing cells in the pancreas and a promising avenue for improving blood sugar control and reducing the long-term complications of diabetes.

RECENT STUDIES

Stem cell transplantation (SCT) has paved the way for treatment of autoimmune diseases. SCT has been investigated in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) as an autoimmune-based disorder, but previous studies have not presented a comprehensive view of its effect on treatment of T1DM.
Because of their ease of procurement and differentiation into a variety of connective tissues, MSCs have taken an early lead over other stem cell types and as such are highly represented in ongoing clinical trials for a variety of conditions including diabetes.
This study in Science Direct reviews how different types of stem cells can treat diabetes.
