Mibelle Biochemistry has recently launched PhytoCellTec Exosomes, a new cosmetic active ingredient derived from goji plant stem cells. This innovation reflects growing interest in plant-based technologies and exosomes, especially within advanced anti-aging skincare.
Exosomes are playing a central role in tissue regeneration and repair. The PhytoCellTec Exosomes ingredient is reported to act on two levels: it supports the skin barrier at the epidermal layer and stimulates endogenous exosome release from mesenchymal stem cells in the dermis. These processes may contribute to increased collagen production, improved skin elasticity, and the reduction of wrinkles.
The goji plant (Lycium barbarum), known for its antioxidant-rich berries, serves as the botanical source for the exosome formulation. According to Mibelle, in vitro studies using a 1% goji stem cell extract showed increased exosome production in mesenchymal stem cells after 24 hours. In vivo results included an 11% wrinkle depth reduction in 23 women after 56 days of twice-daily topical application, as well as enhanced facial contour in a separate group of 67 participants after 28 days.
PhytoCellTec Exosomes is delivered as a water-soluble, preservative-free powder. It received bronze recognition in the “Best Active Ingredients” category at the 2024 Innovation Zone Awards during in-cosmetics Global in Amsterdam.
